Biography

Thomas Lukasiewicz is Professor of Artificial Intelligence Techniques at the University of Oxford and TU Wien. He leads the Intelligent Systems Lab in AI and Machine Learning and is a Fellow of EurAI and AAIA, as well as a member of AIIA. His recognitions include the KR 2022 Test of Time Award, ACM PODS Test-of-Time Award, AIJ Prominent Paper Award, and IJCAI Distinguished Paper Award. He previously held a €1M AXA Chair on explainable AI in healthcare and a Turing Fellowship at the Alan Turing Institute. He was also awarded a Heisenberg Fellowship by the DFG and has led projects funded by the DFG, FWF, EPSRC, and the EU. He currently serves as associate editor for JAIR and area editor for ACM TOCL. His recent research focuses on explainable and neuro-symbolic AI, language models, computer vision, and recommender systems.
